Hi Friends! Keeping your gut bacteria—aka your microbiome—in balance plays a key role in your overall health. Recent studies suggest those trillions of tiny microorganisms living in your intestines may help keep off extra weight, boost immunity, protect your joints and even help prevent life-threatening conditions like heart disease and cancer. New research shows that certain types of fiber are better for improving your gut health. Fructans are high-fiber natural carbs found in plant foods. Cellulose is the insoluble fiber your body can't digest. If we eat properly, our microbiome is perfectly fine. There is plenty of ample fiber of the foods that we are intended to eat. We don't need to eat things that we really can't digest. And unfortunately most vegetables contain high amounts of cellulose and other very complex starches that our bodies just don't do very well with. So, I definitely don't recommend them and don't see them as being close to optimal for us. Celery, interestingly, is the least offensive of the starchy vegetables and easiest to digest. I'm not so oppose to it like to the beets or potatoes. Here in Tanglewood we've seen so many people heal from so many conditions without resorting to consuming non-foods. Our bodies are intended for fruit and soft tender leafy greens. All the research is based on people not doing what they need to do : not getting their bodies clean, not fasting, not eating optimally. What happens under those circumstances is gonna be different and life changing!
