Is coffee healthy or unhealthy? It turns out it may actually lower your risk of disease.

Studies on coffee and disease:
1. One study involved 41,000 men and 86,000 women who were regular coffee drinkers. They found no association with an increased mortality rate in men and women.

2. The second study found that coffee consumption lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes.

3. A meta-analysis found that coffee consumption may decrease the risk of liver, breast, kidney, and colorectal cancer.

4. The next study showed that coffee consumption is not associated with a risk of stroke. They even found a moderate decreased risk of stroke.

5. A 4-year study involving 386,000 coffee drinkers found no evidence of risk of arrhythmias.

6. A few studies showed that people who have five or more cups of coffee a day could have an increased risk of coronary heart disease and arrhythmias.

Coffee has polyphenols, which are antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory. A small or moderate amount of coffee (I recommend organic) can potentially be beneficial to your health.
