Hi Friends! Shortness of breath and elevated heart rate are common experiences when you fast. One of the reasons it might happen is if you're not getting enough water. It will directly affect the volume of your blood and the amount of oxygen it carries. By looking at your blood pressure, pulse and temperature I can interpret if you are getting sufficient amount of water. What you want to do is increase your water intake and rest as much as you can. Obviously the less active you are, the less issue this is. These ale likely causes, but detoxification can also be the reason of elevated heart rate and shortness of breath. For example, if someone comes in to fast with a nicotine habit and just stopped smoking, on about day five that person will start dumping nicotine. It's a powerful stimulant, so the heart rate elevates dramatically, and the person starts smelling like an ashtray. Same thing happens with coffee, speed, cocaine and any other powerful stimulant. But there are many substances that when you're fasting your body might be dumping - they are not necessarily stimulants normally, but your fasting body says - this is nasty stuff, let's get rid of it as fast as possible. And so your body raises your heart rate to pump it to your kidneys faster, where it's filtered out of your blood. If your spread is ok, that's likely the reason of your elevated heart rate. But if your spread is too low, it's probably because your spread is too low. And remember, everything is connected. Hope you find this video helpful and learn something new today!
