Importance of a proper and gentle refeeding after extended water fast

Hi Friends! Let's talk about refeeding. During fasting, the body switches its main fuel source from carbohydrates to fat tissue fatty acids and amino acids as the main energy sources. During refeeding, insulin secretion resumes in response to increased blood sugar, resulting in increased glycogen, fat and protein synthesis. You can shock and upset the system by eating too much or by eating stuff that never belonged in the body, but that the body was accustomed to. It's important to gently restart the appestat - the region of the hypothalamus of the brain which is believed to control a person's appetite for food. We start meals very small and slowly increase the amounts over the course of the first week. We are trying to gently bring you out of a fast back to being able to handle normal quantities of food.
