Did you know that you can use baking soda to remove pesticides from certain foods? Apples, for example, are one of these foods. A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that baking soda is effective for this purpose.

Taking care of our health means paying attention to the foods we eat, including fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Excessive consumption of pesticides can increase the risk of various diseases, such as liver cancer, leukemia, tumors, kidney disease, hypothyroidism, brain cancer, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. That's why it's recommended to eat organic foods whenever possible.

However, organic foods like apples may not be available or may be too expensive for some people. But don't worry, there's a solution! You can use baking soda to remove pesticides from apples (and other fruits that are eaten without peeling) and still get all the benefits of this delicious fruit without the harmful chemicals.

In a study by the University of Massachusetts, researchers tested three methods for removing pesticides from apples exposed to two common pesticides: Thiabendazole and the insecticide Phosmet. The most effective method was soaking the apple in a solution of water and baking soda for 15 minutes. After this process, rinse the apple with drinking water to remove the excess baking soda, and it's ready to eat.

Now you know an easy and affordable way to remove pesticides from your fruit at home!
