Today, I want to cover the top remedies for a UTI. I have an older video on this topic, but I wanted to update it with some new information.
A UTI stands for urinary tract infection. This could be in the lower part, as in a bladder infection, or the upper part, which could be more of a kidney infection.
The most common pathogen involved with a UTI is E.coli. Normally, in our bodies, E.coli isn’t harmful—it’s neutral. But, a change in the environment it lives in can cause it to become pathogenic.
A few things that can lead to E.coli becoming pathogenic: • High glucose • High estrogen (pregnancy or ovulation) • Antibiotics (especially quinoline) • Intercourse (cross contamination) • Low estrogen (decreased vaginal flora) • Catheters
Natural remedies for a UTI: 1. Buchu • Antimicrobial • Anti-adhesive (may prevent bacteria from attaching and accumulating) • Decreased risk of infection (in the bladder, prostate, or urethra) • Can act as a natural diuretic
2. Cranberry • Anti-adhesive (may prevent bacteria from attaching and accumulating) • Decreased biofilms
3. Uva ursi • Can act as a natural diuretic • Antimicrobial
4. Juniper • Antimicrobial for the bladder and kidneys
5. Do fasting (1-2 days)
6. Cut out carbs and sugar
