Hi Friends! I believe that nuts may have played an important role for humans in various stages of our history in times of floods, fires and droughts, in situations where maybe there was no fruit available, because the nut intact in the shell, has a long shelf life. If the shell is cracked or broken it begins to oxidize and the fat becomes rancid. It’s no longer safe to eat. Because they are so concentrated, we don’t need to eat much of them. In times when there is nothing else, nuts and seeds are fine. Just remember, when we have other food, which is far easier for the body to digest, far better meets the body’s nutrient profile needs, we are far better off eating that. And if you want to continue eating nuts, you should probably buy them in their shells and open them one at a time with a couple of rocks. Because that will naturally limit how much of this high fat, high protein stuff you consume. Otherwise it’s easy to overdo it!
