What if I told you that there are thousands of bacteria on your toothbrush?

Did you know that bacteria thrive in a dark, moist environment, like your toothbrush?

The toothbrush is the perfect place for them, because the bristles of the toothbrush get covered with water, toothpaste, food debris and bacteria at least once a day, and if you've just had a cold or flu, they can still harbor viruses.

But how do you clean your toothbrush when you know it's used three times a day and returns to your mouth full of food debris, saliva and even more bacteria? That's exactly what we're going to teach you today!

In this video, you'll learn how to clean your toothbrush quickly and easily with ingredients you probably have at home. To keep your toothbrush in optimal condition, you should clean it after every use.

To do this, soak the bristles in an antibacterial mouthwash for 30 seconds and move them around. Don't soak your toothbrush in the mouthwash for more than 15 minutes and don't reuse the rinse after you have used it for cleaning. Or dilute a teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide in a cup of water and swish your toothbrush in the solution before putting it in your mouth.

If you like, you can also soak the bristles in vinegar and leave them overnight. Do this once a week. After cleaning, always place your toothbrush with the handle end down and make sure that it doesn't come into contact with other toothbrushes so that it can dry properly.

It's also not recommended that you share your toothbrush with others. You should also replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed or worn. After a cold, you can throw away your toothbrush and buy a new one, but this is probably not necessary.

If bacteria from the flu or cold remain on your toothbrush, you can get rid of them by disinfecting the bristles with one of the 3 recipes you just learned about.
